C.C.'s Senior Pics

Here's a sneak peak from C.C.'s senior picture shoot. I loved that he was so chill and relaxed about the whole thing...and he was a natural in front of the camera. Seriously, I didn't even have to tell him to lean, or have to tell him where to put his hands, etc...he was just so, well...NATURAL. We had some fun doing a few urban looking photos, too. Thanks for being so awesome! It was nice to meet ya! More to come--can't wait to finish editing your pics!

Kelsey + Matt's Wedding

Thanks to my friend Erin she let me come along to see how she does a wedding photo shoot. I've been wanting to get first hand experience at a wedding so I mostly went to I could see how she runs her "show." While there, I snapped a couple of photos, too. This cute couple both come from families with many or all adopted children. I thought that was so cool--and such an interesting story. Matt's parents adopted all four of their kids from all over, and I think Kelsey's parents had 13 kids (I think four of them were their natural birth children..is that how you say it? and the rest are all adopted children from all over the globe). So AMAZING. Both lovely families. I was so glad that Erin let me come along. She is always so fun to be around and I love picking her brains with photog questions! Thanks Erin so much! I think I just now got the itching to start doing weddings! (The last pic is of Erin in action...she is like 8 months along and she's still bending, crunching, laying down, and going at it during her photo sessions. I don't know how she does it...the girl is CRAZY! I'd be at home eating a bag of chips and loungin').

Heather's Bridals

Heather and Nick were referred to me through my friend Jill Holyoak--and I'm so glad I had the chance to meet this awesome couple! They are adorable together and we just had a blast with the whole crew (mom, sister, and future sister-in-law came with) at the photo session. I love how the new trend is to bring along your man for the bridal shoot...it makes it a lot more fun and adds a lot to the pics I think.

The lighting was perfect--the sky was GORGEOUS and of course the bride was BEAUTIFUL so everything magically worked together! This was my first bridal session, but I so enjoyed it that I MUST do it again! I love young couples, they are so cute! So here's a sneak peak at what's ahead...Whaddaya think?

Teos

She just looks like the cute little girls you see in a magazine picking flowers in the fields. She is so adorable...I just had to post this pic that had a very vintage, homestead kind of feel. I love it.

Jackson Family Sneak Peak

Just got back from the Jackson family photo shoot at an orchard in Provo. And get this...there were TONS of DEER. YEs. TONS as in many many deer. They were everywhere, it was so awesome. I wish I would have captured them on camera...but oh well, maybe next time--it looked like it was a regular spot for them to hang out at.
Anyway, I had such a blast getting to know the Jackson fam! Such a beautiful family--just totally kick back cool. They just live down the street from us so it was like we were hanging out. Loved it. They were such naturals in front of the camera! Thanks again for the fun time! Here's just a sneak peak of what's to come. Hope you like it!

The Orchard

A family I am shooting tomorrow wants to shoot an an orchard. I loved that idea...The way the fruit trees envelope over you--the lighting will be so great. I can't wait. I found this apple orchard in Provo. There are lots of Orchards in the Utah county area so I will have to keep scouting out for some more because I love this idea. Family pictures, engagements, bridals, childrens' pictures....the possibilities are endless in a beautiful orchard don't you think? Anyway, stay posted....will post pictures of my family photo session in a couple of days! Anyone else have any good ideas of where to shoot?

Get the BIG PICTURE....

I did it! Thanks to Naomi Masina who is the most awesomest person ever! She is an amazing photographer who has been giving me some tips and advice on how to get started in this biz...There is a funny story surrounding my unofficial intro to her so I have to share. So since I have just started into the whole photography thing, I constantly check my friend/photographer Natalie Norton's Picks and Kicks blog. My favorite posts are her "What's in your bag" stuff--where she interviews photographers on their photo processing, etc. Anyway, she interviewed Naomi the other week, noticed that she was from Hawaii and living here in Utah so I checked out her blog and website. Needless to say, she is an amazing photographer and I love her stuff...Robbie saw me checking out her blog and pointed out that he knew the girl on the website. I was like, "what? you know her? she's the photographer..." He told me that they were in a Physical Science study group back at BYU and that this guy Ashley (yes...a guy, not a girl) was head over heels in love with her. He thought it was pretty funny....anway, since he knew her, I decided I should try to e-mail her and tell her the scoops...as well as get tips on how I should start out, etc. There are a lot of photographers out there not willing to share, as if you were going to steal their business or something....rain on their parade...whatever..I think it's all bogus. The way I figure, if you are confident in your abilities as a photographer, there is no need to be so secretive about your work. Your work is unique and no one can recreate "your look" (which I'm still trying to nail down myself). Anyway, Naomi was that CONFIDENT, self-assured DOPE, RAD, ON-POINT photographer who was so kind and gracious enough to write me a response and answered all of my questions the very next day. Now that is totally rad in my book of special people. Because since then, I've bombarded her with even more questions, and each time she has graciously returned my e-mails SO QUICKLY. I love this girl--and we haven't even officially met in person. I really do hope that I will get to meet her sometime soon...her latest tip for me on how to enlarge my photos on blogger was so helpful. I swear I tried to figure it out for like 2 hours, and one quick e-mail to my girl and the answer was solved. bada bing...bada boom.... OKay...I promise not to bug you too much Naomi...but you gotta know that you are truly my ROCK STAR PHOTOG now!

Sucking Fingers

I don't know if I could ever get her to stop sucking her fingers. Dilemmas....dilemmas.....

Playing with apeture

Shooting with my canon 85mm at 1.8 f/stop seems to be really soft. (notice the first two photos of Kailee). When I adjusted to about 2.5-2.8, the image is a lot sharper. I like the softness when I want to feature maybe her eyes, etc. But if I want the image to be sharper, I will go with the latter. Getting to know each lense (because each lense will be different) and finding your sweet spot is really important!

LOL...

I love this picture of little Jolie because it captures the true LOL moment...she was just having a blast getting tickled to death--almost falling off the bed. (I was tickling, holding the camera and shooting, while trying to make sure she wouldn't fall of the bed)....I tell ya, if that's not mulit-tasking, I don't know what is. I may just have to blow this picture up and put it on my wall!

Jolie

So many nicknames for her....Jolie bean, Joe Bugga, JO JO, JO gangsta (that's daddy's nickname for her), Bobby Joe, JOlie MOlie....her smile is infectious!

I am so cute...

I know I'm a little bias, but my little girly is so cute! Well, she thinks so, too...so I gotta make sure it doesn't get to her head. Best of all, she's not just cute on the outside, but has a heart of gold. I love you Kailee girl!

Brooke

We drove around looking for spot to take photos at and came across this random grassy area that had a dirt road that led to no where filled with lots of trees. Totally secluded so we just walked around and checked things out. Of course I had to bust out my camera and take photos of my cute girls while we were there. I don't think Brooke was too happy with me making her stand by the light. She was too busy playing and I interrupted her. The thought! This is one of my favorite photos from our little excursion--the way the sun shines right on her, even if she looks a little grumpy!

Fresh Takes-Boyce Family

Thanks guys for a fun shoot! I'm glad we got some pictures in before it started raining!
